Heat of the Moment (Harlequin Blaze) ReviewBeing prior military, I'm always hesitant to read any books containing the military background. I see errors in the portrayal. For one, Holly kept calling Shane, 'soldier'. He's not a soldier, he's a Marines. Marines are known as Marines. Army is known as soldiers. And his rank is gunnery sergeant, but he was constantly referred to as Sergeant. It's the little details that I wished the author would have taken the time to research.
Other than those errors, (which only irritate me because I was enlisted) I thought the book was great. Both characters had crushes on each other, unbeknowest to the other, when they were teenagers. Shane thought he wasn't good enough for Holly, because she came from a rich, well-to-do family and he came from a broken family. His mother died when he was a teen and his father turned to the bottle. Shane had to drop out of school and get a job to support him and his father. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and beat feet out of town. Holly, after graduating high school, soon followed in Shane's footsteps and joined the military. She followed him to Iraq where on a mission, Shane tries to save her, but Holly ends up saving him. They both return to their hometown and end up at Holly's parent's lake house to recooperate. Once there, they connect with each other and find out that trouble as followed Holly home. The whodunit was not that hard to figure out, considering in the beginning Holly's commanding officer gave her a brush off off a highly big issue. But it was sure nice to read Shane and Holly fall in love.Heat of the Moment (Harlequin Blaze) Overview
