River Patrol - The River Division ReviewI was a member of a PBR boat crew on the Rivers of Vietnam at the time Chief Bryant was there. This book nails it on what we faced on the rivers there. Those night patrols were hard on the nerves and often we survived by our wits and firepower alone as the chief states in this book. Bravo Zulu Chief and thanks.Boats of Glass Balls of Brass and Black Berets Forever,

A collection of courageous actions in battle that actually happened on the rivers woven together into one story called The River Division. These compiled actions are about Riverine Warfare in Vietnam and gives an up close account of what the well armed, small thirty one feet long fiberglass boats that worked in pairs were involved in while fighting the Vietcong and North Vietnamese army. About the AuthorAn excerpt from the Foreword in “Man of the River" by William C. McDonald PhdThe role of the Navy in Vietnam's waterways was to patrol the rivers in high-speed small boats using hit-and-run tactics to disrupt the flow of enemy troops and supplies. The threat of combat was always with them, and Bryant soon realized that fear was not an option if he were to keep his men alive. His whole task force knew that one false move could be death for them all, and Bryant with great pride tells of how each member kept a cool head throughout with their own bravery and the grace of God. Bryant's straightforward and detailed account was not written for personal glory but from thankfulness for surviving to be able to tell his story in respect and remembrance of all those who fought honorably for the American ideal.Book Review: by Nathaniel Baker of Vietnam-War-Books.comA vivid look into the Navy PBR forces patrolling the Brown Water Rivers. This particular Vietnam War book focuses on small crews and well armed fiberglass patrol boats. Written by Jimmy Bryant, this Vietnam War book gives us a look into the worlds of tag team hit and run tactics. A historically accurate retelling reworked into a series of shorts that flow through this book and speak to its' reader. Accurate, vivid, and intense. Every moment aboard one of the Navy's patrol boats requires focus, an eagle eye, and iron will to make it through every watery excursion. A monumental asset to the American forces and one not commonly spoken of. Bryant tells these men's tales in his own words, and does it well.Reviewed by Nathaniel Baker
