It should be mandatory reading for young naval officers considering naval aviation careers. The author is a Naval Academy graduate who was among the elite few selected to fly navy fighter jets. O'Rourke's path of training and qualification as an FA-18 "Hornet" pilot was perfectly timed for a dramatic rendezvous with the Afghanistan War.
